CTD-O 12.5/40 Tablet

CTD-O 12.5/40 Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Uncontrolled blood pressure can increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney failure.

It contains a diuretic (water pill) and may increase urine output, so it is better to avoid taking it within 4 hours of bedtime. Take it regularly as advised by your doctor, even if you feel well, because high blood pressure often has no symptoms.

CTD-O 12.5/40 Tablet contains Olmesartan and Chlorthalidone. Olmesartan relaxes and widens the blood vessels so blood can flow more easily, helping to lower blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic (water pill) that increases urine output and removes extra fluid and salts from the body.

When blood pressure is controlled, the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney damage is reduced. The medicine works in the long term to keep you well, even though you may not feel an immediate difference.

Most side effects are mild and usually settle as your body adjusts. Contact your doctor if they persist or trouble you.

Common side effects include:

• Nausea, taste change, diarrhea, upset stomach
• Weakness, headache, dizziness
• Increased blood uric acid
• Increased blood lipid level
• Electrolyte imbalance
• Low blood pressure
• Urinary tract infection
• Renal dysfunction
• Sore throat
• Abnormal liver function tests
• Increased potassium level in blood

Take CTD-O 12.5/40 Tablet in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not chew, crush or break it. It may be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day. Do not stop the medicine without consulting your doctor.

CTD-O 12.5/40 Tablet is a combination of two medicines:

Olmesartan: An angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes and widens blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more smoothly and lowering blood pressure.
Chlorthalidone: A diuretic (water pill) that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body through urine. Over time, it also helps relax blood vessels and improves blood flow.
